History of the Committee
In order to promote gender equity on campus and to prevent and process gender discrimination, sexual assault, and sexual harassment so that the rights of faculty, staff, and students may be protected in a safe educational environment, NTNU approved the establishment guidelines for the “National Taiwan Normal University Gender Equality and Sexual Assault Prevention Committee” in the 66th General Meeting on October 29, 1997, and thereafter officially established the “National Taiwan Normal University Gender Equality and Sexual Assault Prevention Committee”. In order to substantially advance equality in gender positions, eliminate gender discrimination, protect personal dignity, and ingrain and establish the resources and settings required for equity education, the university agreed in the 83rd General Meeting on June 12, 2002 to officially changed the name of the committee to the “National Taiwan Normal University Gender Equity and Sexual Assault Prevention Committee”. Later, in coordination with the promulgation of the “Gender Equity Education Act”, the university passed in 89th General Meeting on June 9, 2004 to change the name of the committee again to the “Gender Equity Education Committee of NTNU”.
The Committee has the following tasks:
  1. 1. Integrates university resources, drafts gender equity education proposals, implements them, and reviews the results of implementation.
  2. 2. Plans or holds gender equity educational events for students, faculty, staff, and parents.
  3. 3. Researches, develops, and promotes gender equity education courses, teaching, and evaluation.
  4. 4. Researches and drafts the implementation of gender equity education as well as prevention measures for sexual assault and sexual harassment on campus, establishes mechanisms, and coordinates and integrates relevant resources.
  5. 5. Investigates and processes cases related to the Gender Equity Education Act.
  6. 6. Plans and builds gender equity safe spaces on campus.
  7. 7. Promotes gender equity related family education and social education in communities associated with NTNU.
  8. 8. Other gender equity education affairs of NTNU or communities associated with NTNU.
